Dan calmed her by staying close by her side, holding her hand, and talking with her. It was the way he spoke to her that was so special.
I would like to express my appreciation for the great nursing care that my mother received. There was one nurse in particular to whom I would like to give extra thanks. We met Nurse Dan Frederick on the first day after getting into the ER. It was discovered that my almost 90-year-old mother had a pneumothorax. A chest tube procedure was performed. It was during that procedure that Dan showed such understanding and compassion for what my mother was going through. My mother has dementia and she is also very hard of hearing. She was anxious about what was going on. Dan calmed her by staying close by her side, holding her hand, and talking with her. It was the way he spoke to her that was so special. Dan was attentive to all of my mother’s needs. He also showed a great understanding of the chest tube procedure and was very helpful to the doctors at hand. Since the ER visit, we have met many nice nurses on Baird 3rd floor. But we both still talk about the super nice nurse (Dan Frederick) that we met in the ER. His kindness will not be forgotten.
