Nurse Yu-Shaun applies her quality professional characteristics in committing to clinical nursing jobs. She is an assistant nursing head, working in the surgery room for 20 years. Her work enthusiasm has resulted in patients feeling warmth in their hearts as well as rounds of praise and gratitude extended to her. Her strength lies in problem-solving in the department. She was awarded the department’s best nursing staff in the year 2005, 2015, and 2021. Yu-Shaun contributes to nursing innovation and improvements, which values nursing quality greatly. She identifies weaknesses proactively, with the application of domestic and international proven journals, and her team formed a special project team to look for countermeasures. It is quite effective in improving patients’ pressure injury incident rates during surgery.
The department’s pressure injury incident rates have improved and decreased gradually from 0.9% in the year 2015 to 0.2% in the year 2021 through education and training, which increases nursing care quality among the department staff. She participates in lean management training workshops actively, learns and applies the daily management methods in improving the efficiency of the surgery schedule. Promoting ‘reduce delay rate of first surgery’, lets nurses participate in decision-making, and empowers them to solve daily problems. She is committed to increasing the department’s work productivity and morale in improving the team’s quality.
Since Oct 2017 till now, the delay rate of the first surgery has dropped from 32.1% to 9.1%, and the improvement is ongoing. She even represented our hospital to participate in Hospital Quality’s Achievement organized by Around Taiwan Health Care Alliance and was awarded the Gold prize honorably.
