Cameron has been a nurse on this campus since 2001. He has had numerous roles including RN in SCU, Clinical Coordinator on Medical, and currently ICU RN. He is both reliable and hardworking. He is relief charge nurse in ICU as well as a preceptor for new staff. He is also a consistent member of the UPC (Unit Practice Council) and is the unit rep for LPC with Montlake. While those things show his dedication to his career, the reason he truly stands out is how he connects with his patients.

I have NEVER heard Cameron issue one word of complaint about his assignments, even the most challenging assignment. He spends each workday getting to know his patients both as a nurse working with a patient but also as a human getting to know another human. He pleasantly approaches his patients introducing himself ready to “get the job done” but while doing so asks them about their lives. He spends time talking with his patients and shows them he genuinely cares about them as a person and not just another patient in a bed. He has attended funerals for patients who have passed. Below is a picture of one of our first Covid patients who came back both to the hospital and was on a national news program talking about his recovery from Covid about the great care he got. Cameron was one of his primary nurses. This patient went from being the sickest of Covid patients to being able to climb a mountain once he recovered!

Cameron is also a favorite of his co-workers. When he precepts someone he is by their side guiding, asking questions, and making sure they are comfortable. He always sends his preceptees off to breaks first. Every physician respects him, every nurse thinks he is wonderful and every CNA loves working with him as he does not ask them to do anything that he himself would not do. He bakes cookies for staff on a regular basis. He plays his Ukulele at staff picnics He tells us jokes and makes us laugh. He is truly just the greatest guy and an exceptional nurse. He is a true DAISY Nurse.
