This week, Janna, once again went above the call for a patient here at St. Francis Medical Center. In her role as a Clinical Care Lead on PCC, she often goes the extra mile for her peers and our patients, however, this week she extended her care across units. Janna was tasked with organizing chemotherapy for a patient over an extended 3-day period.

With her characteristic enthusiasm, she obtained a list of all other chemotherapy certified nurses in the facility, organized RNs to pick up extra shifts to cover the treatment course, and even participated in the treatment herself as a certified chemotherapy nurse. That alone was a big undertaking, but the part that further sets her apart is her ongoing focus on how to make the process better for the next patient! She is actively recruiting RNs throughout the facility to become chemo certified so that we can always be assured of the ability to deliver safe care to this fragile patient population.

Janna did all of this without concern for the time investment because she knew this patient was counting on her. While the patient will never know the intricacies of how her care team came together for her, I want to recognize Janna for her continued focus on patients throughout this facility that are here because they need good help.
