The best part of the Cancer Center is definitely the people! We are like family here.
Ms. Davis made a leap of fate in 2019 when she transferred to the oncology department. She worked in the ambulatory infusion center for two years before transferring to the Nurse Specialist office. She calls this field “home” now and finds joy in helping her patients through their cancer journeys. Ms. Davis chose Geisinger because her mom worked here as a Life Flight nurse for many years. Alexandrea stated, “My mom is the reason that I am a nurse and growing up hearing of her adventures in nursing inspired me. It was fitting that I ended up working for the same system that she was with.” Also, adding that her four-year-old daughter has already decided that she is going to be a nurse to help patients “just like her mommy and Nana! (She waves to the hospital and wishes all the sick people feel better every time we drive past the hospital). Nursing is a family business! “ Ms. Davis also stated that the best part of the Cancer Center is definitely the people! We are like family here: we see each other every day, day in and day out, through the good shifts and bad. We support each other and work as a team when our assignments are rough and rejoice together when good things happen. Many of us have worked together for many years and in a variety of departments together, but each new person that joins our “crew” quickly becomes a new family member.
