Kim takes time to build a relationship with her patients and remembers both their names and face during reassessments and future admissions.
Forrest General is lucky to have Kim as an inpatient wound care nurse. Not only has she stuck around through thick and thin within the hospital during Covid and understaffing, but she also goes above and beyond each shift to take care of all the patients within the hospital. Kim takes time to build a relationship with her patients and remembers both their names and face during reassessments and future admissions. This past week, my preceptee and I had to administer a tap water enema through an ostomy. I have not had experience with this, and neither had anyone else on the floor. Not only did Kim tell us exactly what supplies with order numbers we needed, but she also took the time out of her busy day to come and help us administer the enema. Kim returned in 30 minutes to check back on the patient and see if we needed further help with the enema, and she even called at the end of the day to check on the patient. I have seen Kim take time with new nurses even though she is the only WC nurse on staff to teach them about wounds. She goes into great detail because she is constantly thinking about the patient. Every time you see Kim she is smiling. I have never heard her complain about her workload which I know is huge since she is the only WC nurse available. Kim understands what it means to be a team player. I wanted to make sure her hard work doesn't go unnoticed and to tell her thank you for being a great nurse and example. Kim is a huge help to us. Thank you for your leadership.
