I would like to thank nurse Safira Barmanwalla for her attention to detail, caring, and focused patient support. She stood out as a nurse who was capable and willing to go beyond the call of duty. I came to the ER with an intestinal obstruction and was later admitted. Nurse Safira helped resolve a medical crisis as I was in the process of having an asthma attack which was being misread as an anxiety attack. I was already a little agitated and believed that no one was listening to me about the chest issue. Now, I was having chest tightness in addition to my stomach and pain caused by the suction tube (NG) in my nose that created nasal, mouth, and throat pain. It was getting worse by the hour. Nurse Safira completely saw the issue for what it was, an asthma attack. Due to her quick action and the correct medication administered, a potential medical event was avoided. She also successfully advocated for me to get doctors to come into my room and explain to my husband and me what the future treatment plan was that included effective pain medication. The compassion and degree of dedication, integrity, and respect she demonstrated were outstanding
