Sherrie found beds, nightstands, bedtables, call lights, etc. in order for us to take more Covid positive patients.
On Monday Sherrie was given direction to gather equipment, and place it in her private rooms so they could be made semi-private. She found beds, nightstands, bedtables, call lights, etc. in order for us to take more Covid positive patients. She told me how bad she felt because the patients going into these rooms will not have a TV, and many will not have furniture. She and her staff moved these items themselves because the rooms are Covid isolation and it is safer to limit the amount of staff that enter. While it was stressful- she maintained her positive, happy self. She did this for her staff and for her patients- most of whom will not even know the hard work she did to prepare the place that day. But I know. And I know that because of her - 8 patients who were boarded in the ED were able to go to a nursing unit- only to make room for more patients to come into the ED. This is the true epitome of a selfless leader. And she has done these types of things for close to 30 years. She is dedicated and strives to live our mission. There is NOBODY more deserving of this DAISY award- during these stressful times than a leader who continues to care for this difficult, complex patient population. And who also sets an example for her team while doing it.
