Jan loved on Mama, went out of her way to make certain she was not only taken care of but comfortable, talked to, and loved on when we were there and when we weren’t.
My mother was admitted to T.J. in October 2021. She was on a ventilator and unresponsive for the first four days. Once off the vent she was still not responsive. From the first day that Jan was her nurse we knew she was special. She loved on Mama, went out of her way to make certain she was not only taken care of but comfortable, talked to, and loved on when we were there and when we weren’t. It was beyond obvious when we arrived each day if Jan was her nurse. Then what we can only describe as a miracle, we arrived and Mama spoke the word “hey!” Jan had been working diligently all that day on this to greet us! I cried, hit the floor thanking God for this miracle, and Jan. It’s been 3 days now since Mama spoke and she was moved from the ICU. Jan went with us for the move and Mama was able to greet her new nurse with “I am here!” Guess who helped her with this? Yes, Jan! I cried again, and so did Jan. I am so thankful for her loving spirit and I truly believe Jan is why Mama has made such improvement in such a short time. Jan will always hold a special place in my Daddy’s and my Sister’s hearts. She is truly the best nurse we have ever had the pleasure of having care for any of our family.
