"I was having an emotional moment, and Alec saw me crying. He asked me what was wrong. I shared that the next day would have been our daughter’s 21st birthday, and we normally go to the cemetery, get cupcakes, balloons, etc. Because of my oxygen needs and pneumonia, we would have to miss this year. Alec asked if I had a picture of our daughter, which I showed him. He offered comfort and kind sentiments and then left for the night. The next morning, Alec came and did his morning rounds. He then returned with tears in his eyes and a beautiful purplish pink orchid. He told me the color reminded him of our daughter’s dress from the picture and that he wanted to help brighten our sad day. We were both crying. No words can truly, deeply express how much this meant to me as well as to my husband when I shared what happened. He truly cared and deeply connected with us. Alec was not only able to calm me down and make me feel comfortable, he was truly the sunny spot of my day and helped me get through it. Thank you, Alec, from the bottom of my heart. You helped me get through this milestone birthday!"
