A new graduate nurse noticed a patient having signs of a stroke and called a rapid response. Kaylin arrived immediately displaying her awareness of the needs of those she serves and supports. She noted gaps in team communication but rather than embarrassing staff, she gently but intentionally guided communication and prioritized urgent events modeling excellent nursing care. The MD overseeing the event mentioned words like “fantastic, well-coordinated, exciting teamwork” and said he was so proud of the care and airlift of the patient to another facility. The next day in the staff huddle, Kaylin took the time as a servant leader to mention the good steps the team took rather than mentioning the crucial care she gave as she led the team. Kaylin has served six years on her floor and she patiently advocates for her nurses and patients while she patiently leads. She consistently juggles details and consistently executes processes to benefit her team. Her reliability is unquestioned and her servant's heart is an inspiration to all.
