This nurse was my preceptor while I was training as a new graduate. I am nominating her because I was with her for weeks and she consistently connected with the patients and their families every single shift I had with her. I remember one patient we took care of who had a difficult diagnosis and this nurse just listened to his mom and was able to provide such a positive impact by taking the time each day we had him to listen to what his mom said and to address each of her concerns with the doctors. I watched this nurse do this with all of her patients and I was inspired to really take the time to connect with the families and patients. She took the time to build a relationship with that mom while also working and also training a new graduate. I was inspired to be more like her because I could see how much just taking the time to listen to that mom truly meant. Her relationships with the families and patients continued to be evident even when she was not the assigned nurse for some of the patients, she would still take the time to go say hey and catch up with the families and make sure they had everything they needed.
