I’d like to recognize Ashley Gullo for her outstanding nursing care for a patient who was experiencing end of life. Ashley was attentive to their needs throughout a very complex, hectic day. She helped safely transition him from the NICU, to outside, then to the CICU. She ensured the family had everything they needed to make one of their worst moments as good as possible.

The family said over and over how grateful they were for the care Ashley provided. She was a great team player as well and stepped into a nontraditional role without hesitation. This baby was terminal and the dad said he didn’t want to meet his baby knowing the fatal diagnosis, but when he called to check on his baby and Ashely said she loved his son the dad said that he realized that he could love this baby too. In addition, Ashley rearranged her schedule to take care of him on the day the family decided to withdraw care.

Ashley was the most compassionate, caring, energetic nurse while we were in the NICU. She has a heart for her patients and gives 110% to not only her patients but also their families! She is an advocate for her babies. She was always available to answer any of our questions or listen to any concerns—no matter how many times we called. She had such a connection with our son. She is more than deserving of this recognition!

Ashley has such a heart for her patients. She goes above and beyond in advocating for her babies and their families. She loves her babies and truly cares about them. She is knowledgeable and is willing to go the extra mile. One time when one nurse was having a hard time getting our son to eat, Ashley took him and was able to get him to eat. We were having to make trips back and forth to New Orleans, and we were always most comfortable when we knew Ashley was in charge of his care.
