Kasey decides daily that she is going to have a great day and consistently maintains a positive attitude while caring for her patients and providing a helping hand to her team members. I have watched her blossom into an attentive and successful clinical coach who tirelessly prepares nurses for challenges and rewarding experiences and encounters on Progressive Care. Her peers describe her as "wonderful to work with, creating an inclusive work environment by making herself available to all staff while advocating for all patients and always going above and beyond for patients and team members."

Recently, I was asked to speak with a patient regarding the care he received while he was hospitalized on 2N Progressive Care. This gentleman wanted to compliment Kasey on the thoughtful and compassionate care provided to him. He explained that he was admitted for alcohol addiction and had numerous experiences in the past for the same diagnosis that were less than positive. He went on to say that Kasey empathetically listened to understand his fears and concerns. She went above and beyond to provide effective symptom management by continuous assessment, comfort through kind words, listening and reassurance, and encouraging communication; all of which ultimately prevented the worsening of his condition and expedited his recovery and discharge. He was touched that she treated him without bias or judgment and because of this, he felt like a human being. It is apparent that Kasey strives for excellence in all she does. This is reflected in her positive patient outcomes and also in the nurses she orients and mentors. Kasey is a true DAISY Nurse.
