Marilyn bought groceries, not for herself, but for her patient.
We had a patient in CVICU that lived alone and had no family in Conway. He was being discharged home and had to go by cab. This was heartbreaking for many of the CVICU staff. Marilyn Dail had cared for him multiple shifts and was aware of his living situation. When she learned that he would likely be discharged, she finished her shift, clocked out, and went to Kroger to buy groceries. Marilyn bought groceries, not for herself, but for her patient. She returned to CVICU with groceries in hand and gave strict instructions to the day shift nurse to ensure the patient received his groceries upon discharge. Marilyn was worried about this elderly gentleman going home alone and having the means to feed himself. Could he afford groceries? Was he strong enough to take a cab to the grocery store and shop for himself? What if he had a cardiac event while he was grocery shopping? Marilyn showed extreme compassion and love by using her own time and money to provide her patient with groceries upon discharge. Marilyn is an angel among us and truly exemplifies our mission and promise. This is only one example of Marilyn's many acts of kindness. She is very deserving of the DAISY Award, and very deserving of being recognized for her kind heart and generous spirit.
