First of all, Kate is an angel of a person and I am unable to isolate one instance in which she made an impact in my father's care. She is an amazing, empathetic, caring, gentle, confident, competent, and strong nurse in any definition of the words!! I cannot say enough good things about Kate's care! Following my dad's sedation, he even recognized her voice -- because even while sedated, she provided him with verbal comfort. I was alone for 2 months (I live in NV) while my dad was being cared for in the NVICU and it is due to Kate's exceptional care that I felt that he (and I) were safe and comforted. It is evident in everything Kate does that she deeply cares for her team and her patients. She is quick, effective, thorough, and obviously very experienced in her care. Every night my dad was on her caseload, I was able to sleep a little better. My dad, all patients, and UPMC Altoona as a whole are better for -- and lucky -- to have her services. She is an excellent nurse -- one of the best I've ever seen, and I am so grateful for her care of my dad (and me!).
