I met Chris when I first started on the unit almost two years ago. During the time, we have worked, he has always been so helpful and kind, going above and beyond for the patient when no one is looking. From talking to his patient for hours, making them feel special and like a person, not a checklist, to taking patients who are able out for fresh air or wheeling them down to the gift shop to be able to look at the window displays when they're going crazy from being in the unit for weeks. Chris always goes above and beyond for the well-being of his patients. He is so kind and compassionate but also cool and calm in situations of distress. He truly exemplifies the qualities this award is meant to recognize. Chris is always warm and welcoming to families, patients, and staff. He keeps a calm demeanor, involves patients and family members in care, educates them about procedures, as well as encourages them throughout their ICU stay. He has a gentle touch and pleasant attitude. He is quick to help others, and also is a wealth of knowledge for new graduate nurses, students, and his peers. He is well-liked by everyone, and never has a cross word, nor seems to have a "bad day/night." He provides EXCELLENT care to all our patients, and truly exemplifies our "WE CARE" motto!
