Gayle’s attention to detail aligns with the incredible care she provides patients and families.
Gayle Wiley-Roberson, ARNP, is a true DAISY Nurse. She exemplifies the kind of nurse that patients and families as well as all members of the Interdisciplinary Team recognize as an outstanding role model. Gayle is one of UWMC’s pioneering critical care ARNPs and has served in the role of Lead APP for three of our critical care units for the last many years. Her colleagues write: “Over the last two years, in particular, Gayle has faced incredible challenges with grace and exceptional leadership capabilities.” “During the initial phases of the pandemic, our ICU served as the COVID unit, and Gayle was a pillar of strength for all of the staff as we navigated the unprecedented wave of COVID.” “Gayle was instrumental in ensuring staff safety and managed to aid all of the critical care APPs in their roles during uncertain times.” “Gayle met every new surge with clinical expertise, calm steadfast leadership, and kindness.” Gayle’s leadership style is unique as she truly invests in every staff member, taking time to check in on both personal and professional needs, and somehow manages to do this in a way that encourages each person to be their happiest and healthiest both in their career in their personal life. Gayle’s attention to detail aligns with the incredible care she provides patients and families. One of Gayle’s APP colleagues writes: “I can recall so many patients that she has gone above and beyond for. From coordinating family gatherings from across the world, strategically gaining insight into what truly matters to patients, her wealth of experience as an APP, and her deep care for walking alongside patients and families in end of life – she does it all seamlessly. It is a true honor to work with and learn from Gayle.” Gayle personifies the expertise, power, and grace that leads to the outstanding care that our patients and their families at UWMC receive each day.
