My mom was a patient in the ICU for only 2 days, but Amy treated us and my mom as if she had been her patient for 2 years. Amy took time with us and explained everything to us over and over. She face-timed me (the patient's daughter) from her personal phone when she believed my mom might pass before I arrived at the hospital. I have dealt with many nurses and hospitals over the last several years with aging parents and in-laws. I have never met another nurse with the level of empathy Amy had. She did all she needed to do to care for my mom and so much more.

She cried with us, actively cried. She talked me through decisions in my mom’s care in the most caring and empathetic way. She focused on the human side, not the medical side and that made all the difference in the world. Amy is so much more than a skilled nurse! She was a friend to our family and to my mom. I cannot imagine walking through my mom's medical battle and eventual passing without her. I cannot recommend her for this award enough. She's amazing!
