LuAnn Townsend is an experienced Oncology nurse who has been at Kootenai for a very long time. She has been in leadership within the Oncology division and now she is a point of care nurse for the Neurosurgical ambulatory clinic. I am nominating her because I see her dedication not only to Kootenai, but to her coworkers and the patients that her clinic serves. I admire her courage to step out of her professional comfort zone of Oncology to embark on a new learning adventure of neurosurgery.

Her clinic has had significant turnover since the pandemic. She is one of the original staff members since she transferred to this to this clinic. She is always teaching and mentoring on a daily basis. Her patience and kindness are evident in her smile that she brings to her work environment. She volunteered to be an EPIC super user while orienting a new nurse to the clinic. Her experience and knowledge have helped her adapt quickly and she continues to be a resource for clinical staff and clinic management. She works closely with her clinic manager to support a common goal to make their clinic run efficiently while giving best practice care that keeps their patients safe and happy. Her dedication represents the heart of nursing. She does what needs to be done because it is the work that needs to be done. This is what makes her a DAISY Nurse.
