We finally got dad to the rehab facility around 8 pm that evening. None of this would have been possible without the superb organizational skills and caring attitude of Michele.
My 90 year old father was taken to the Roane Medical Center when he broke his hip while we were in Tennessee on vacation. My father, brother, and I were extremely pleased with the quality of care he received, from the emergency department, doctors, nurses, and everyone we came in contact with. Everyone was professional, and polite and just made us feel at home. The facility and more importantly, the staff are second to none.
We soon discovered that we had a new issue, getting dad safely back 400 miles to his home in Ohio. That is when we were put into contact with Michele Crowe, my father's case manager. Michele immediately put us at ease with her professional, yet calming demeanor. Michele organized the transportation for us and it was set up for the transport to pick dad up at 10 am. At the last minute, the transportation provider canceled which increased our anxiety. Michele said that she would continue to work on this, which she did, and had it all set up again for Thursday. This trip was also canceled at the last minute but Michele did not give up. She assured us that we would get something worked out and left her private phone number with the floor nurses in case anything developed overnight. On Friday it looked like dad would have to wait until at least Monday to be transported. Michele sat down with us and we decided to rent a van and transport dad ourselves. While my brother and I went to get a rental van, Michele made sure that dad had everything he needed for the trip home. She also sent all of the appropriate documentation to the rehab facility in Ohio. We finally got dad to the rehab facility around 8 pm that evening. None of this would have been possible without the superb organizational skills and caring attitude of Michele. I do not have the words to express my family's gratitude for the outstanding care given to our father by Michele Crowe. She guided us through a very difficult and stressful time and took care of us as if we were her own family. My family will never forget what Michele has done for us.
Note: This is Michele's 2nd DAISY Award!
