Micah has never met me but spoke to me as if I were there in person. It is extremely apparent just how selfless this nurse is.
I would like to nominate Micah Reed, RN for his compassion and care in the way he delivered some sensitive news to me about my father's current condition. Micah not only took his time and updated me on my father’s health but prior to speaking to me he had already given my stepmother a thorough update on the new status of my father. My stepmother and I get along just fine however I am a nurse from out of state and she asked Micah to call me and give me a thorough update as she was afraid she would not explain everything as in detail. I have been asked by family before to update another family member and have declined and requested that they ask the elected care partner to update all the family so that I can care for their loved one. I believe this nurse knew the importance of one more update because my stepmother explained to me that Micah did not hesitate and assured her that he would get the information to me right after ending the phone call with her. He did just that and he let me ask questions as a family member and not as a nurse and exuded no judgment and it was not at all rushing me on the update of my father. He has never met me but spoke to me as if I were there in person. It is extremely apparent just how selfless this nurse is. We need more nurses like this. NO matter how much medical knowledge you may have, when it is one of your own loved ones, all of that knowledge seems to escape you. Micah was Empathetic, Kind, Patient, and reassuring. I have vowed to express my gratitude by paying it forward and treating all the family members of my patients as he treated me and mine. This is always our goal as nurses, however, times have been very trying and it is easy to lose sight of how to truly express empathy and compassion with our words and our tone. I want to thank you Micah Reed for not losing sight of what it means to be a nurse for all the right reasons. I’m sure you have faced so very much during the past few years, especially in the CCU. You are remarkable and THANK YOU!
