Our 90 yr. old father, with chronic pulmonary disease, came to STICU with 3 broken ribs, severe pain, and difficulty breathing. Alexis was his dayshift nurse his entire stay and she made us feel as if she were caring for her own family. She made our father at ease with friendly conversation, although she had other patients, there was never a need that went without a prompt response. She listened to each of his concerns and discomforts and worked along with us to find the best resolution to each challenge. Alexis had just the right balance of push and care to encourage our father to tackle the difficult and painful obstacles he needed to face in order to make progress in his healing. Within 48 hours of his arrival in STICU, his improvement in mobility and lung function was apparent to all. We believe dad's improvement is a direct result of the care and encouragement he received from Alexis, and without her care, concern, and encouragement our father may not have made it through this crisis. We could not have asked for a better healthcare partner to help our father face and conquer this tremendous health challenge.
