Jordan went to bat for me every time and didn’t give up and made sure I had what I was supposed to.
I am having a hard time picking which adjectives describe Jordan. It is an understatement to say she was the most cheerful, kind, skilled, gentle, and compassionate nurse I’ve ever met, she went above and beyond the usual care a nurse attends to for patients. She’s also the best nurse on the floor when it came time for blood draws and putting a new IV in which happened twice when on the Cardiac floor. She even put my last IV in after her shift was over one evening, and I am beyond grateful. Without Jordan, draws often required 2 sticks with a lot of probing. So, by Friday I asked the doctor for a PICC line, and he agreed to it. But by the time it got to Radiology they had left for the weekend and as I was told they don’t do it on weekends unless it’s life-threatening. I have moderate to severe malnutrition due to malabsorption. I require a minimum of 4,000 calories a day to maintain my small body weight, and I can’t gain weight for the life of me. When I was at St. Mary’s I ate every bite of 6 Ensures, completely double meals, and 3 snacks a day which consisted of 2 sandwiches, chips, and an orange. It’s hard for people to believe I eat that much, but I do and it’s breaking us financially. Anyway, Jordan believed me, as did the nutritionist, of course, but your kitchen balked at every step for days. Jordan went to bat for me every time and didn’t give up and made sure I had what I was supposed to. It wasn’t once either, but a daily thing enough times that the Director of Food Services became involved. It was that bad. If it wasn’t for Jordan taking that extra time to follow through for me, I don’t know what I would have done. She saw me as a person who needed tender care, who was hurting inside and out. She was the one, along with my doctor, who carried me through some difficult days. I’ve had 31 surgeries and believe me; I know a great nurse when I have one. Jordan is outstanding and absolutely is a DAISY Nurse. Jordan is the nurse who makes St. Mary’s shine. She is a treasure and should be recognized.
