...she has also gained the respect, support, and admiration of her coworkers. And if you know ICU nurses, this isn’t as simple as it sounds!
Theresa has dedicated herself to service. She became a nurse so that she could help people, and bring them ease and comfort. Anyone who has watched Theresa work has seen her do this. When she was on Med/Surg, I remember Theresa standing down the hallway, doing a little dance, as her patient was being wheeled out of ICU and to Med/Surg. How incredibly upbeat, comforting, and welcoming for this gentleman to see! Theresa is always up for a challenge. She became a Certified Med/Surg RN – demonstrating a depth of knowledge and setting an example of excellence. It was no small wonder to me that Theresa would want to stretch her wings and join the ICU team! It has been about a year and a half and Theresa has not only gained the knowledge and confidence needed to care for the critically ill, but she has also gained the respect, support, and admiration of her coworkers. And if you know ICU nurses, this isn’t as simple as it sounds! Here is what they have to say: “Theresa has become an instrumental core ICU staff member. She took a leap to learn about ICU during our initial horrible wave of COVID patients. She learned a lot quickly by fire and excelled. She is such a great team player, being in your room to help, even before you ask her! She can tackle any critical patients while remaining calm. Patients and staff love her!” “Since moving to ICU from Med/Surg, Theresa has shown herself to be a valued member of the ICU team. Working with many others in the unit has earned her respect from all her co-workers for her cheerful, competent, and organized care of her patients. She is a true team player who helps where needed and delivers outstanding care consistently even to the most difficult patient. Her patients uniformly love her calm and encouraging care. She embodies the values at SVH of Compassion, Respect, Excellence, Accountability, Teamwork, Innovation, Nurturing, and Guidance!”
