Melody has been a formal leader since June 2021. Her unit has made tremendous improvement in patient experience scores, starting at the 42nd percentile for Quarter 3 2021, rising to 68 percentile in Quarter 4 2021, and soaring to the 91st percentile for Quarter 1 2022. Melody’s staff feels that she has a clear plan on how to improve her unit. While she takes responsibility and control of unit situations, she makes team members feel respected and that their input is important.

Melody is also great at addressing escalations and concerns for patients. She shows a genuine concern for her patients and staff. She always listens intently and partners with her patients and staff to ensure all needs are addressed. Her positive attitude helps create a culture of ownership and her passion for nursing is truly inspiring. She shows leadership by being solution-oriented and consistently thinking outside the box to solve problems.

Melody is always smiling and her laugh is positively infectious. She is well respected by staff and peers for her commitment to excellence. She has been a mentor to many new nurses, helping to elevate their practice and confidence. She teaches by example and has an open door policy. Melody embodies excellence in leadership.
