As a young adult, Yoon was accepted into a very competitive free university in Korea, the National Railroad College of Nursing. She obtained her associate’s degree in nursing and graduated at the top of the class, receiving the Ministry of Education Award. Yoon moved to the U.S. in the 1980s and obtained her nursing license in California. As a young nurse, Yoon worked nights to better provide and care for her family. Yoon and her family moved to Colorado in 1998 and joined HCA Healthcare at The Medical Center of Aurora. When Yoon heard about the opening of Sky Ridge, she wanted to be part of something big. She transferred to SRMC in 2005 as a member of the Intensive Care Unit.

Yoon is known for being a “Unicorn’ in the ICU. To this day, her colleagues love to follow her as they know they are set up for success. She challenged them to raise the bar and ensure the next shift was also set up for success. Yoon soon took on the leadership role of CNC within the ICU, displaying strong leadership skills with a high level of emotional intelligence and a wealth of knowledge. She continuously strived to be a content expert and was always willing to share her knowledge. Patients and staff loved her gentle, calm, and soothing presence. When Yoon was on shift, her team always felt a sense of security and comfort knowing she was in charge. They describe her as collaborative and always willing to be a second set of eyes to look at a patient.

Seeking a new challenge, Yoon joined the infusion team in 2014 and has brought her standard of excellence in nursing to a new team. She offers a personal connection and commitment to care that touches each patient in her world. Yoon’s director shares, “As her leader, it is clear that she has a high level of standards and integrity. Yoon is meticulous in her care for patients and serves as a preceptor, mentor, and role model. She is reliable and treats everyone equally and with the highest level of respect. Yoon has a passion for teaching and helping develop others.”

Yoon is known for going above and beyond to ensure her teammates and patients are taken care of throughout the facility. The most powerful word that describes Yoon is humility. She is exceptional and never draws attention to herself. Yoon is not one to boast or share her accomplishments. She sets a high standard that many strive to emulate.

Another of Yoon’s passions in life is caring for and serving others. Yoon supports a local women’s shelter and volunteers for the Salvation Army; she is also actively involved in fundraising for the Salvation Army.

Yoon is known for her selflessness and strong work ethic. One patient shared, “Yoon is very dear to my heart; she is caring and always takes her time to say hello even if she is not your nurse for the day. I call her my little energizer bunny; the reason is that if you watch her, she goes and goes and never slows down, making sure everyone is comfortable and has what they need. I love this about her, and I am sure many other patients feel the same way. She is amazing, and I wanted you to know how special she is to me. I will miss her very much when she retires, and I know Sky Ridge will miss her; she is one of a kind.” Another patient shared that Yoon truly remembers each patient for which she cares. His daughter and wife look forward to her hugs and that she is a “bright light.” Yoon’s genuine kindness has touched the hearts of many colleagues and patients throughout Sky Ridge Medical Center and HCA Healthcare. From the beginning of her career and throughout the years, Yoon has consistently been a beacon for excellence, collaboration, and integrity. She is our Gold Standard!
