I am a nursing student at SPC doing my practicum for nursing care management with Erin Messina in the emergency room at St, Joseph's south in Riverview. She is an exceptional example of everything good about nursing. She takes the time to slow down even in the busy ER atmosphere to take every opportunity she finds or even times she creates for us, to teach me something new, to quiz me on things she remembers from the NCLEX that we are experiencing with our current patients or to reinforce information she knows for sure is going to benefit me in starting my career as a new nurse. She gives feedback on everything, whether it is praise for something that I did really well or if there is something that I need to improve on she gives the feedback and then offers more than one suggestion of how to proceed in the future. She is very smart and knowledgeable. She is very efficient in her flow of things that we do throughout the day and has taught me different habits that I will take with me on my journey into nursing. She is one of the most caring nurses that I have come across in my 10 years in health care, and 2 years in nursing school. She has helped develop my confidence to not be as nervous to be a new nurse in this crazy world we live in today.
