Collette is always getting to know the patients and is a model of connection and patient-centered care.
I wanted to recognize Collette Jappy for her incredible work last Friday, and every day. She is an incredible part of our team and was elbows-deep in patient care all day on Friday. She assisted me in changing a difficult ostomy/wound dressing twice (45mins+), and was constantly helping the nurses with anything and everything they needed. We ended up with only one regular staff member, otherwise, all crisis travelers and some of the crisis travelers had never done it before or worked mostly night shift. It led to needing significant support in the unit, and Collette was integral to our successes that day. I wanted to make sure she is well recognized for her help! Many people in similar roles rounded a bit, and helped with one or two things, then left. She saw the need and jumped right in, and didn’t leave after a few tasks, she saw everyone through the whole day as part of the team. She is always getting to know the patients and is a model of connection and patient-centered care. She digs into every situation, advocates for the patient’s best interests tirelessly, and builds personal relationships with all the patients on a daily basis. She is able to connect and build relationships with many patients that others struggle to reach, due to confusion or other challenging behaviors. The patients frequently know her better than many other staff members due to her hard work and connections.
