Our son was soon glad to see Charles come through the door.
Our son was transferred to MICU post-chemo treatment. He became rapidly ill throughout the day. He was afraid and did not understand all that was going on all around him, nor the care that was necessary to stabilize his condition. Charles was the calm in the storm for our son. His demeanor was compassionate. He took the time to explain what he had to do and when and why. He established rapport and trust with our son very quickly. He was calm and also prioritized his tasks so as to decrease the commotion of multiple people in and out of the room, to enable our son to try and rest, which is difficult in the ICU.

Our son was extremely sick and also angry at a new cancer diagnosis and loss of control, and life as he knew it. Charles took the time to be patient with him when he wasn’t very kind to nurses. He never reacted to our son’s attitude or shortcomings. He was kind and compassionate and consistent. Our son was soon glad to see Charles come through the door. He was the bright side in a terrible time for all of us and we are extremely grateful for the time and compassion he gave to our son and us as well. I suspect Charles is the kind of nurse who goes above and beyond with every patient. It’s very clear how much he cares about his patients. What an asset to your team.
