On a Sunday morning in April, I was visiting my Dad in the ICU and his nurse Tony was absolutely amazing. He came in the room with his happy meter cranked up to 12! He was smiling, singing, humming, joking around, and laughing. It is so great to have someone come in on 12 when you are struggling to stay at 2. He lifted everyone in the room up. When Dad got upset and demanded immediate release (AMA) Tony knew just what to say to calm him down and get him to stay to receive the care he needed. Dad has a brain tumor and was simply not himself but Tony was completely unshaken by the outburst. Tony deserves to be acknowledged for being a bright light in a dark spot of our life!
