One of the most important characteristics a nurse needs is compassion. Joy went above and beyond to help me through one of the most embarrassing moments I have ever had. I was struggling to hold still and she helped me. Joy stayed calm, talked me through it, and literally held me. You cannot get a better example of a compassionate nurse who loves their job and cares for their patients. I hope she gets the recognition she deserves since we desperately need her in this field.

I was admitted for delivery of my 3rd baby. Joy was my nurse and I told her what all I wanted from my delivery and what I wanted to experience during my labor. She made sure to go above and beyond to make sure that was reached. She stayed with me and help coached me through each contraction to help me reach my goal of not having an epidural. I could not have done it without her. Joy made me feel like I knew her my whole life even though we just met that morning. She was absolutely amazing and DMH is lucky to have a nurse who cares for her patients as if they are her own family. I cannot thank Joy enough for her kind heart, her patients, and for being a great coach.
