Gillian came to visit me on the ward several times and called the ward for updates, as well as called me.
My son R was born and both my husband and I stayed with him for 12 days on the ward, following a traumatic birth which meant both R and I needed a lot of care initially. R was also under the care of the Neonatal unit. I mean it when I say none of us would have coped if it weren’t for the midwives. I received support from Gillian Barker for my anxiety and she had also taken over my postnatal community midwifery care.
Gillian came to visit me on the ward several times and called the ward for updates, as well as called me. She even calls me now, outside of normal appointments, just to check-in, and she ensures that she goes above and beyond for both R and me. She is friendly and warm, but also super knowledgeable and supportive. I know that the Nottingham Midwifery service has its struggles however; this member of staff is a credit to the NHS and deserves praise. Thank you all.
