Ann is a huge champion of employee engagement and likes to incorporate her vision along with staff input.
Ann has a very transparent leadership style. She shares her vision for the departments and is open to suggestions for quality improvement, employee engagement/morale, and process improvements. She leads by example. Ann role models those behaviors of an exemplary leader and nurse. She always makes sure that her staff can talk to her about anything. She takes time out of her busy schedule to resolve any problems that may arise and makes sure that she listens to nurses'/PCTs'/HUCs' concerns and encourages all to work to figure out a way to solve issues, having everyone's best interest in mind. Ann is a huge champion of employee engagement and likes to incorporate her vision along with staff input. She is very passionate about finding ways to get staff involved with processes, policy reviews, quality improvement, recognition, etc. The staff does not feel like they are being told how to operate, but are considered a valuable team member. Ann always has a smile on her face under her mask! Even in tough moments, she makes the worse situation appear fixable. When 5F was losing staff due to travel, COVID, etc., the decision was to covert her unit to a discharge unit. Ann embraced this with grace, compassion, and her expert leadership style to ensure this was a positive change for all. Ann makes sure to acknowledge and gives "kudos" during morning huddles, and staff meetings for going the extra mile for safe practices, being a team player, good catches, etc. She loves to start and end meetings on a positive note and encourages all staff to continue to recognize one another! Ann is an advocate for building engaged teams so that all voices are heard. She knows it takes everyone on her team to work together to get things done and provide the best patient experience. I couldn't think of a more deserving person for this award than Ann Winiesky!
