Jenny shines extra bright during these uncertain times and has never lost her sparkle by choosing to always respond with style and grace.
Opening the Hubbard Center for Children, learning how to navigate through the pandemic, and stretching resources to deliver care to the kids who need us most has clearly been a challenge for the House Supervisors overseeing hospital operations. There is a House Supervisor who shines extra bright during these uncertain times and has never lost her sparkle by choosing to always respond with style and grace. You will see her strong bond with staff while she is out rounding in departments, you will hear the compassion in her voice as she facilitates a debriefing, and you will experience her reflecting on situations that did not go as planned to figure out how to do better next time. She listens with intent when staff confides in her, she explains her “why” to develop a mutual understanding, and is not afraid to stand up and do what is right for our people and the organization. When the unexpected happens, all eyes are often on the House Supervisor to lead the way. Jenny Struyk leads by example and action. This does not mean she is highly popular or feels alone in high stake decision-making…what it does mean is she takes calculated risks, knows how to gently push, and cares deeply about her role and responsibilities. Jenny continues to persevere by creating a safe environment for staff to feel comfortable speaking up for what they need, establishing trust by keeping the lines of communication open and honest, and showing the house wide view, not just a one department view to emphasize the importance of ONE team and purpose. Her enthusiasm to make each day a great day is remarkable. She is a role model for Children’s and us all.
