Bri took the time to make me feel like I was safe and didn't leave the room until I was completely comfortable.
This is my first time ever admitted and you can say I have been through a roller coaster of emotions. Being here scares the daylights out of me because I have never been away from home before. I got admitted to the EMU on Wednesday and I honestly thought that being so far from home I'd have a seizure right away and get to go home Friday. That was not the case at all. When I found out I had to stay longer I cried because I got so homesick.

Bri was my overnight nurse for the weekend. She treated me differently than the rest of the nurses. On Saturday night, I was sleep-deprived and normally a nurse would just turn on the lights at midnight and tell me it was time to get up. This time my sleep-deprived night was different in such a positive way. Bri took the time to talk to me and didn't just make me feel like a patient she made me feel like a friend. I ended up having a seizure when she was in the room and Bri didn't talk to me like I was two like the other nurses did. She stuck around and talked about the things that made me happy like my dogs.

I've noticed that during my other seizures here the nurses would run in and leave right after it was over. Bri took the time to make me feel like I was safe and didn't leave the room until I was completely comfortable. The EMU was scary for me and put me in a dark spot, but thank goodness for Bri because she got me out of that dark hole. I would do this whole experience again if it meant Bri was my nurse. Thank you, Bri for being so great to me. Froedtert is so lucky to have such an amazing overnight nurse like you.
