My father was struggling with confusion after being admitted with COVID and thoracic spine fractures. After a week of being hospitalized, my dad stopped eating, became more irritated, required a 1:1 sitter, and VPO. When Kelsey was assigned to be his nurse, I was blown away by the way she interacted with him. She treated him like a human being rather than just a demented patient. She took extra time to encourage him to eat, fed him when he was too weak to feed himself, got him out of bed frequently, and tried to continuously stimulate his memory by asking him about his past. In the evening when I was not there and my dad was asking for me, Kelsey called me so I could FaceTime with my dad. My dad’s demeanor changed in a good way when she was with him. She even took the time to provide me with frequent updates about his progress. She is a huge asset to Tower Health and definitely deserves to be recognized because she went above and beyond!
