Whenever Nicole was our nurse, we could get some sleep knowing that she was taking the absolute BEST care of our son.
Having our son at 33 weeks was unexpected, and as an Emergency Department nurse at Froedtert, I was aware of many things that could have gone wrong. During our 6 week stay at the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Fox Suite, there were many sleepless nights due to worry over how he was doing. Nicole Lange was our son’s primary night nurse; my husband and I were SO thankful for this. Whenever she was our nurse, we could get some sleep knowing that she was taking the absolute BEST care of our son. Some examples of her great care: She made a scrapbook page of our son’s bath time when we couldn't be there on a particular night. I would walk into his room every morning and he would have lullabies playing for him, and sometimes she would leave us notes on his chest that we would see on the angel eye, such as "Look, mom and dad, I am in my big boy crib!!" She also left us a detailed updated note after his first night in the NICU about his progress over the night. All of these things provided my husband and me SUCH comfort, and I had no doubt in my mind that he was in the absolute best hands possible. She really deserves recognition for going above and beyond. The world needs more nurses with Nicole's compassion, and every day since he left the hospital, I have been trying to provide my patients with the level of care that she did for us.
