Jennifer is the type of nurse manager who will run a cardiac arrest on a patient then turn around and mop the floor.
I would like to recognize Jennifer Braren as a DAISY Nurse Leader. These words came from all the staff in the ED. I simply asked them what makes Jennifer such a great leader and this is what they said.

"Jennifer is the heart of the ER, and we are simply the extension (the pulse). She is called "momma B" for a reason. Her fellowship and support is unwavering, and that is reflected in the loyalty of her staff. She is an outstanding role model and leader. We are truly blessed to have her."

"I appreciate how approachable Jennifer is. I am always able to bring concerns to her, and know there will be a listening ear."

"I appreciate how helpful she is when I have concerns. She is easy to talk to and very knowledgeable."

"Demonstrates what leadership is all about. She is not a leader from the desk, she comes out and handles the unit any time needed."

"The mother in her comes out and if we are cranky she gets us food and most times from her pocket."

"No matter what’s going on in the unit, she is on the unit which makes it easier knowing we have support and she is with us."

"She is easy to talk to, communicates well, is a team player, flexible, fair, personable, not scared to work and not above getting on the floor days or nights."

"Gets things done, and nursing productivity is higher when she is out there because she models behaviors, and the nurses follow her lead. She cleans rooms, gets up, and works, and the staff mimics her behaviors. Always helpful and has your back if you need it."

"Jennifer treats her staff as family, and is willing to roll up her sleeves to help at any time. Jennifer comes in to charge in the Emergency room on her days off when staff is short. Jennifer worked many pm shifts during COVID 19 pandemic, plus taking care of her manager duties. To make sure she had efficient staffing, due to the fact of nurse being out sick and the high surge of patients in the emergency room. Jennifer was also working with her staff during the valentine’s week freeze 2021 night and day to help coordinate efforts in the ER to safely manage the patient care. Jennifer is the type of nurse manager who will run a cardiac arrest on a patient then turn around and mop the floor."

"Jennifer is an encourager! Every time I work with her she always makes a point to point out the good I do for our patients and our unit workflow. If she forgets to tell me “good job” she makes a point to text me later."

In summary, what I hear most often when I ask the staff about Jennifer is that she has created a family at work. She cares about them and they know it. She communicates honestly and she is not afraid to jump in and help when they need an extra hand. When I talk to Jennifer, she tells me she loves working on the unit and it shows. Jennifer is an exceptional and rare leader and we are very proud to be working with her as a part of her team.
