Magyorie took it upon herself to coordinate an extended time in our hydrotherapy room for him to have a thorough scrub down, making him feel like a new person.
Magyorie is a nurse loved by the staff and patients. In unit 10-5 MS/GYN, we tend to have long-term challenging and complex cases. Among those patients, we have had a case in which a patient has spent three months hospitalized for uncontrolled chronic conditions. The patient is alert and oriented. Therefore, he is going through a difficult time in which he neglects his hygiene and becomes either withdrawn or non-compliant with treatment and best behavior. However, Magyorie took it upon herself to coordinate an extended time in our hydrotherapy room for him to have a thorough scrub down, making him feel like a new person.

On top of her charge nurse duties and her five-patient assignment, she also took the time to wheel the patient down to the food court to enjoy his preferred meal. After that great experience, he was cheered up and talkative with the staff while being extremely appreciative. He had a nice outfit on and asked for the staff to please take pictures of him looking his best for him to send to his family. It was a pleasant surprise to witness such a busy charge nurse with excellent leadership skills coordinating with her team of peers. This act of compassion and care, despite the challenges of staffing and workload, makes Magyorie deserving of recognition.
