Thank you for keeping him around to watch me graduate and thank you for being the one to initiate his journey at the end of life.
I meant to write Autum a note back in 2016; she took care of my Uncle in the ICU the first time he was here. Over the next months, I met many nurses but to this day Autum has always been memorable. I want to thank her for taking care of him both then and now. Autum you exhibit compassion, tenacity, and strength. You dealt with my Uncle so well, you kept up with his snarky comments, you shared parts of your life with him and you joked around- (tactfully of course).
When I realized she would be the nurse extubating him, I felt a sense of relief. You have a wonderful presence, for both patients and their families. You are calm, collected, and comfortable – the kind of nurse I strive to be. Thank you for being so kind, even after you extubated him and he asked if you were pretty- because he can no longer see… Relentless! I’m sorry I forgot to write this 6 years ago, but nonetheless, you made that much of an impression on me. Thank you for taking care of my Uncle both then and this time around and congrats on the baby girl! Thank you for keeping him around to watch me graduate and thank you for being the one to initiate his journey at the end of life. With a grateful heart.
