Nicole was not going to give up
My father was in tears of joy and gratitude after experiencing the compassion that Nicole had for him. He was uncomfortable as the catheter really hurt a lot. Nicole was relentless in her quest to find the source of pain. She was in and out every so often asking him if the pain had been fixed. Every time, he said no, she would try something different and then check back again. He is better but still hurts my dad said. Nicole was not going to give up. Finally, she found the source and as she secured the catheter and wrapped it gently around his thigh she added an extra pad so his skin would not be irritated by the wrap. She then smiled with her eyes and asked him if everything is good. My dad, the 80-year-old man, smiled with his eyes back and whispered in my ear, she really cares! It is the small stuff that usually makes a big impact on the patient’s heart.
