The NICU had a full-term baby that was passing away and Katherine Brown was the baby's nurse that day, she was very gentle, kind, warm, and extremely attentive to the family's every need. This was a long all-day process, Katherine never thought about herself, not to eat or drink. When the baby had passed, mom asked if the baby will be staying in the clothes, and she told mom yes. Katherine bathed the baby and removed her clothing, making sure to place the clothing in a bag. We (the unit) gave mom and dad some time to mourn the loss of their baby girl. The social worker called the parents the next day to ask them if they'd like to have the clothing that Katherine had saved for them back. The passing of a baby, especially an unexpected full-term one, is very difficult. Katherine handled it with grace, courage, and professionalism well beyond her nursing degree! This is why Katherine Brown is a DAISY Nurse.
