Fairmont Rehab and Wellness is proud to recognize Violet Idemudia for the Alameda Health System – Post Acute Care as a DAISY Nurse for demonstrating exemplary knowledge and clinical skills working as charge nurse (subacute unit, COVID-19 Quarantine unit, and skilled nursing), and exemplifying compassion to her patients/residents and families. Early in the COVID-19 pandemic, Skilled Nursing Facilities complied with Public Health orders to shelter in place and restrict visitors due to the spread of infections in congregate living facilities. Residents, as well as their families, were directly affected as facility visits were halted. Fairmont Rehab and Wellness, like many other skilled nursing facilities in the country used iPads to facilitate video calls as alternative to in-person visitations. Nursing staff assisted the residents and families connect through video visits. During one of Violet’s errands to the store, a gentleman who recognized her from the video calls stopped her and thanked her for taking care of his father. Violet’s commitment to patient care and her compassion to connect her patient with his family were memorable moments that transcended through the video and acknowledged by the patient’s son.
