Taylor explained in detail everything that was happening while ensuring he was as comfortable and calm as possible.
I arrived at the Emergency Department with my 18-year-old son who had injured his right wrist during a basketball game. He had an obvious deformity to his right wrist which was an obvious fracture/dislocation. Within two or three minutes of arrival, Taylor, with assistance from other ED staff members started an IV, attached all monitors, and found the physician on duty to examine him. Soon after that, she administered pain medication and ensured that an X-Ray was en route to the room.

She had noticed on her assessment that he had tenderness in his left wrist. As a result, a second fracture was discovered. She explained in detail everything that was happening while ensuring he was as comfortable and calm as possible. She was in the room for more time than required, going out of her way to address concerns, questions, and needs. Once the doctor arrived, she assisted in the closed reduction of the right wrist fracture and sat with him following the procedure while I called my wife to inform her of the extent of his injuries.

While I have seen Taylor consistently provide excellent care, I was unaware of just how invested she is in providing the best care possible to all of her patients. The care my son received in the ED was not unlike what every patient receives here. The vast majority of the nurses here provide excellent care with the knowledge that their patients will likely not recognize the level of care they receive. However, the compassion and empathy that Taylor displays while performing her job rivals the best I have ever seen. In the four or so hours we were in the ED, she far exceeded my expectations.
