When Tracy came into our room she gave me a big hug and said a prayer with me and I knew everything was going to be okay.
Tracy, the theme of your ten nominations is best described by this line: “she was my/our angel.” Over and over again your patients or their family members have expressed how much your presence has meant to them, during their treatment, or during the final days their loved ones had with each other. Let me share a few excerpts from these nominations:

“I’m sorry it’s taken so long to write this note but my best friend had cancer and passed away. He was very sick when he was admitted and Tracy was his nurse. She called his mom and sat with us during the entire treatment. And the thing he loved was she ate candy with him and cared enough to sit and talk with him about his family and boys. Before he passed he made me promise I would write this and let her know how much he looked forward to her visits.”

“My nurse, Tracy, has been so good to me and my family. She brought me a devotional book and it has helped me so much. I can’t believe what an angel she is. Please have a party for her.”

“I am a doctor for a hospital in another state and Tracy took care of my dying mother for two days and was amazing. She is so caring, so professional – and so deserving of this award. I will be making a donation in her honor.”

“Dear Tracy, thanks for saving my papa’s life tonight.”

“I have worked with Tracy for many years and I’ve been retired for 20 years now. She has taken care of my mother and recently my husband. She is an absolute ‘Angel’ on earth. When Tracy came into our room she gave me a big hug and said a prayer with me and I knew everything was going to be okay. I can’t tell you the heart she has. Every time she came into our room she was getting beeped and always pulled in all directions, but she was always so nice to everyone and still made us feel that we were the only patient she had. I prayed my husband would pass away on her shift and he died at the end of her shift on the third day at 8 p.m. She stayed with us on her own time and I will never forget this as long as I live.”

Wow. And, I could on and on. Tracy, your compassion and the heart you have for your patients, their families, and your MMC team are what the DAISY award is all about.

Note: This is Tracy's 2nd DAISY Award!
