Normally I help take over Nancy’s patients when she is off. I am always so impressed with how thorough Nancy is in her notes. She prepares her notes in a way that you know what the next step is with the patient and family which ensures continuity of care will continue. When I see her patients the following day, they all comment on how they remember Nancy. Despite all the providers who they see, Nancy always sticks out in their minds. Nancy is so kind, listens well, shows compassion, is relational, and does a great job having those hard conversations with family because of the way she explains things in a respectful manner. Nancy helps families see the reality of suffering and burden and in turn, those families express their sincere appreciation. I have not been a palliative care NP for too long but when I grow up, I want to be like Nancy!
