Jenny and her husband found wood and loaded it into their truck and took it out to this patient's home and made sure that he had what he needed.
Jenny started out as an incenter nurse at a rural facility in Williamstown, Ky. She provided excellent care, and with her kindness and compassion, she touched the lives of both her patients and coworkers. Jenny later moved to peritoneal dialysis when she saw an opportunity to do even more to improve the quality of life of her patients. While Jenny has continued to make a difference in the lives of her home patients, she has never forgotten her roots in incenter care. A few months ago when Jenny found out that one of our patients who does not have electricity and heats with a wood-burning stove, had been getting progressively weaker and was unable to chop his own wood, she took this need to her husband, and together they found wood and loaded it into their truck and took it out to this patient's home and made sure that he had what he needed. This patient told me the story in the clinic the day after they delivered the wood. He didn't even know their names but he kept calling them "angels." He has told me this story multiple times now and he always gets tearful with each telling. I never told him who the "angels" were because Jenny didn't want any thanks, all she cared about was knowing that he would be warm and taken care of. This selfless act will never be forgotten and the difference she made in this patient's life is immeasurable. I think Jenny is a true DAISY Nurse.
