Ashley selflessly offered to drive to the patient’s house after her shift to retrieve the wallet and personal items that our patient needed.
Ashley was helping care for a non-ambulatory patient needing transfer to a long-term care facility. The patient was refusing transfer without her wallet and personal goods that remained at her home. We were faced with this barrier to a safe discharge when Ashley, going above and beyond the call of duty, selflessly offered to drive to the patient’s house after her shift to retrieve the wallet and personal items that our patient needed, and deliver them to her care facility. This behavior exemplifies the compassionate care and dedication that makes her a DAISY Nurse.

Ashley is friendly and caring. She always made herself available to me, and she popped in periodically to see if I needed anything. She joked with me, talked to me, and it made my stay feel a lot less lonely. I would look forward to her coming in the next time.
Note: This is Ashley's 2nd DAISY Award!
