My mom had a brain bleed. She is 84 and this injury affected her cognitively. She couldn’t understand words when you spoke to her or find her words to speak. PT and OT evaluated her and determined she was too high functioning and would not qualify for an extended care facility. J’nai went to PT and advocated for my mom and explained how much she was struggling cognitively. She explained issues she had seen while working with my mom. PT and OT evaluated her for 10 minutes and J’nai knew better. After talking to J’nai they immediately changed their recommendations. J’nai called Dr C and explained the situation. She also called speech and made sure when they came they would evaluate not only her swallow but her cognition. She explained to me that the hospital would have in-house therapy for her and the hospital would work with mom’s insurance to find her a facility when needed. I felt so much better after she helped. I am so thankful. If it weren’t for her, we would have felt so much more anxiety.
